A record number of packaging solutions participated in the ScanStar competition this year, a total of 39 entries from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
The jury considered the level of competition to be even higher, and this positive problem made decision-making difficult. The jury awarded a total of 25 awards. Ten of the awards went to Finland, eight to Sweden, four to Norway and three to Denmark.
ScanStar is an annual Nordic competition for packaging industry operators organized by the Scandinavian Packaging Association (SPA), which has a long tradition and has been organized since 1969. The competition is open to all packaging designed, manufactured or used here in the Nordic countries, and it is organized alternately by the countries of Finland, Sweden, Norway and Danish packaging industry associations. This year the competition was organized by Svenska Förpackningsgillet.

Jury members were Virpi Korhonen, Sense’n’Insight (Finland), Ksenija Garbazenka, PlusPak (Denmark), Lars Windeman, PacsOn (Sweden) and Ole Anton Bakke, Jotun A/S (Norway). The jury was chaired by Mikael Gällstedt, Svenska Förpackningsgillet (Sweden).
The packages awarded with ScanStar get the right to participate in the WorldStar competition, which is organized by the World Packaging Organization WPO. Good luck to the winners and good luck to the world championship!

Frame Trays are tailored to customer and subcontractor needs and are used by subcontractors for packaging components, which are transported to OEM factories. After use, the trays are sent to a Boxon’s recycling center, where they are processed and returned as raw material for new trays. Frame tray is made from mono material and can be recycled unlimited times. It also reduces costs. A truly circular concept that well deserved the Scanstar.” |

The jury motivation: The packaging is innovative and has functions that goes above and beyond what the package normally can be expected to deliver. The packaging concept is very contemporary, regarding that the number of conflict zones are the highest in many decades. |

It offers a smart solution with small colour samples, to be used to decide upon colours before making an expensive purchase of a larger bottle. The packaging consists of only two parts. The sampler slides out from the main package using a protruding indicator, and after use, it can be easily stored back. This ensures that the product inside the packaging remains intact and allows customers to use the color sampler to check the shade.
